The diary as Anne Frank wrote it. At last, in a  new translation, this definitive edition contains  entries about Anne's burgeoning sexuality and  confrontations with her mother that were cut from  previous editions. Anne Frank's The Diary of a  Young Girl is among the most enduring  documents of the twentieth century. Since its  publication in 1947, it has been a beloved and deeply  admired monument to the indestructible nature of the  human spirit, read by millions of people and  translated into more than fifty-five languages.  Doubleday, which published the first English translation  of the diary in 1952, now offers a new translation  that captures Anne's youthful spirit and restores  the original material omitted by Anne's father,  Otto -- approximately thirty percent of the diary.  The elder Frank excised details about Anne's  emerging sexuality, and about the often-stormy relations  between Anne and her mother. Anne Frank and her  family, fleeing the horrors of Nazi occupation  forces, hid in the back of an Amsterdam office building  for two years. This is Anne's record of that time.  She was thirteen when the family went into the  "Secret Annex," and in these pages, she grows  to be a young woman and proves to be an insightful  observer of human nature as well. A timeless story  discovered by each new generation, The  Diary of a Young Girl stands without peer.  For young readers and adults, it continues to  bring to life this young woman, who for a time  survived the worst horrors the modern world had seen -- and  who remained triumphantly and heartbreakingly  human throughout her ordeal.

  • Amazing but..

I had to read this book as an assignment for my English class and my mother would not let me get the hard copy. I was very surprised that iBooks had it because no other website had it. I would give tis 5 stars but it changed some phrases which made it extremely hard for me and my group to talk about the book and answer the comprehension questions. Other wise I loved the book very good quality. Also I love how you are able to highlight words and phrases. I also loved how you could mark multiple pages at once it is especially helpful if you are like me and have to read up to a certain part every week.Amazing , awesome, very well put together!!

What an amazing form of art of intellectual insight of things around this youthful woman and of herself: Anne Frank. Extremely very well articulately written..great inspirations for future writers and of youths in our are not alone. From one side of the other world to the next, all youths feel and see things almost as if they were philosopher..seeing things as they truly are. Great expectations are more to come for those who want to improve on literature, confidence, self expression, an educated person like Anne noticed when one admits when one's doing wrong and wanting to change for better. Her legacy is of great inspiration to me as it should be for the world and improve on our own selves and to avoid all kinds of wars ...starting with the wars and tempest that starts with our inner self. Great! Awesome! Anne Peace to you and family! Up in heaven and earth: GIVE PEACE A CHANCE so we won't miss out on extraordinary and the uniqueness of people such as's time for change: lets give PEACE that chance...lets all try it but lets do it together ;)
